Emergencies and natural disasters management

The occurrence of Hurricane Stan in Guatemala (2005 ) and tropical storms in subsequent years as Agatha (2009) and 12E (2010 ) , as well as also the earthquake in San Marcos ( 2012 ) , which virtually destroyed basic infrastructure country in more than half of its departments, caused losses in excess of U.S. $ 2,000,000,000 , forcing the government of Guatemala to attend numerous rehabilitation and reconstruction projects on many fronts simultaneously.

The processes of rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads ( highways , bridges , runways , bank protection works and dredging in rivers ) are developed in stages: emergency care , implementation of projects of rehabilitation and reconstruction and new works.

Guatemala ‘s government then sought Gisystems support for the implementation of a multi-project monitoring process . The process developed allowed simultaneous monitoring more than 200 civil engineering projects , providing information film , photographic and numerical progress of projects .
