The project consisted of supervising the construction of a pedestrian bridge of the suspension type, with a length of 240 meters, over the Chixoy or Negro River. The project was of special importance from the social point of view since it responded to the mobility needs of communities affected during the armed conflict in Guatemala and that were on both sides of the Chixoy River. Being a suspension bridge of such length, there were unique technical aspects from an engineering point of view.
The work consisted of carrying out technical, quality and environmental supervision activities of the Project. In terms of administrative and financial management of the contract, information was provided on the scheduling and physical progress of the work, as well as the quality certifications of the work built and the quantities executed, in order to process monthly payments to the Contractor. In the technical aspect, the topography, resistance of soils and materials, designs and monitoring of environmental compliance were reviewed.
The Elephant system created by Gisystems was used, which consists of a mobile application and web pages, allowing the management of construction projects, facilitating the entry and consultation of general information about the project, lines of work, georeferenced photographs, progress, attached documents, logs, etc.
